Michael Turner Rushes For 139 Yards

For Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, it was just another tough loss.

Michael Turner ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns, Matt Ryan scored the tiebreaking TD with 7 minutes remaining, and Corey Peters came up with a huge interception that helped the Falcons seal a 3117 victory over the Panthers on Sunday.

The Falcons (33) were clearly intent on reestablishing their trademark running game against a vulnerable defense. Led by Turner, they ran the ball 35 times 13 more than they threw it.

Newton, who grew up just a few miles south of the Georgia Dome, wowed the crowd most of the day. He threw for 237 yards and took off on a 14yard touchdown run that put the Panthers (15) ahead 1714 heading to the final quarter. He even celebrated with Deion Sanders' highstep dance in the end zone, marking a day when the retired Hall of Famer was honored by the Falcons at halftime.

But the homecoming turned sour.

After Matt Bryant's tying field goal and Ryan's 1yard sneak, Newton made his biggest blunder of the day trying to set up a screen pass. Peters, a 305pound defensive tackle, caught the rookie off guard by dropping into coverage. Newton flipped a short pass toward DeAngelo Williams, but Peters reached up with one hand to pick it off at the Carolina 40.

"I kind of fell into it," Peters said. "It's a lot different than you imagine it in the sense that when you catch the ball, you freeze. 'Oh, I got the ball!'"

The Falcons offense did the rest, driving 39 yards for the clinching touchdown. Turner barreled into the end zone from 2 yards out with 1:56 left to hand the Panthers another excruciating loss. Their first four defeats were by a total of 18 points, and this one was much closer than the twotouchdown margin.

"At some point, you've got to look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself what can you do to make it better," Newton said. "I'm doing a selfevaluation as we speak. It's not the time that you point the fingers and say, 'It's his fault.' It's time that we as a team take ownership of ourselves."

Turner also scored on a 1yard run at the end of the first quarter, carrying a seasonhigh 27 times and breaking a streak of three straight games without reaching 100 yards.

"It started with the Oline. They came out with a nasty attitude today, that they were going to move the line of scrimmage," Turner said. "I love to see green, man. You give me some space, I'll do what I do."

Ryan, who was averaging more than 39 passes a game, completed 14 of 22 for 163 yards in a performance that looked more like the Atlanta teams of the last three seasons, not the one that got off to a sluggish start this year and was in danger of dropping two games below .500 for the first time since 2007.

"We need to get our identity back, and that starts with running the football," Turner said. "We want to bury teams, not just let up."

Newton finished 21 of 35 but was picked off three times. The other two were a little easier to take, the first coming on a deflected pass, the last on a desperation pass into the end zone on the final play of the game.

The rookie also led the Panthers in rushing with 50 yards on six carries.

Ryan threw a 1yard touchdown pass to Ovie Mughelli, giving the Falcons a 1410 lead at halftime. Jonathan Stewart scored Carolina's first touchdown on a 1yard run, after Olindo Mare opened the scoring for the Panthers with a 42yard field goal.

The Panthers didn't have to punt until late in the third quarter, but the Atlanta defense took control in the final period. Carolina's final four possessions ended with two punts and a pair of interceptions.

Atlanta did a good job shutting down Carolina's top receiver, Steve Smith, who came into the game averaging nearly 23 yards per catch and more than 121 yards per game. He was held to five receptions for 66 yards.

Newton was playing at the Georgia Dome for the first time since he accounted for six touchdowns in the Southeastern Conference championship game last December, leading Auburn to a 5617 rout of South Carolina. The Tigers went on to claim the national title, then Newton headed to the pros as the top overall pick.

Carolina took the secondhalf kickoff and burned 8 1/2 minutes off the clock, finishing with Newton's touchdown scamper. Christian Reflections on a Jewish Messiah

Four years ago, I came across an interesting reference in the New Testament to a verse in the Hebrew Bible. At the end of Luke narrative of the birth and childhood of Jesus, he writes:

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

The answer to these questions did not come to me until this past semester while taking the Dead Sea Scrolls seminar when my teacher (Dr. Curt Niccum) pointed out a peculiar reference in one of the scrolls. I spent three days listening to over 30 papers written by some of the mostpreeminent biblicalscholars in the world. It was quite an amazing experience. This past week at ACU was Summit, the event formally known as Lectureship. It was an exciting time where scholars from around the nation (and world) gathered for a forum on issues that are pressing hard against the Christian church (as a whole) in today world. Topics covered were in a wide range from worship, to biblical study, to social work, to recycling, and more. I think that a probable course of action is to link it to something in reality to make it more believable and understandable. You might also link it to the religion of your friend so that it fits into their worldview. When Luke tells about Paul (the text still refers to him as Saul at that point) vision of Jesus (Acts 9) this is precisely what he does. After I posted the shorter version of this post I called my friend Bryan Nix and we shot ideas back and forth and in the process came up with some very cool links in these two passages and I wanted to share them. In a nutshell, Singing School is a praise camp. We sing all week long and learn about music, especially from an a cappella standpoint. If you are curious about this place, I wrote this post a while back. Each year I write a song, and this year (as well as last year) I collaborated with my good friends Bryan Nix and Robert Nix. Pass protection struggled

After Dezmen Southward Womens Jersey further film review of the 49ers' loss to the Carolina Panthers, here are some extra notes to take away from the game:

It was very clear for majority of the game that the Panthers defensive line controlled everything on Sunday. Colin Kaepernick was sacked six times, with most of them being coverage sacks. The Panthers were not blitzing as much as it could have looked with all the pressure on the quarterback. Klein, but Greg Hardy was the star on defense for Carolina. It was a frequent trend where a Panthers' defensive lineman was in pursuit of Kaepernick. The 49ers quarterback couldn't complete a pass when under serious pressure for the entire game.

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary when Colin Kaepernick stepped in as quarterback after Dezmen Southward Kids Jersey Alex Smith left with a concussion injury. In the famous tie game against the Rams, he was able to light a fire for the offense and force the game into overtime when it was initially bleak. He had trouble throughout the game finding a receiver open and struggled on Sunday in terms of vision and couldn't scramble when necessary.

The loss of Vernon Davis took a major toll on the offense in terms of blocking. Vance McDonald was no match for the opposition which could have been a large reason why the running game was abandoned. Davis and backup TE Garrett Celek are commonly used on jumbo packages for power running plays as the team wasn't confident to run in the second half with both players being out. Davis also affected the passing game as there was no deep threat for Kaepernick to throw to.

Vance McDonald's notable drop was just a strong play by Panthers LB Luke Kuechly in coverage. He successfully broke up the play by pulling McDonald's arm, leading to the drop. In other words, Kuechly out muscled McDonald on the play.

McDonald's lack of production in the passing game most likely stems from his initial struggle as a pass catcher. The 49ers have used him as a blocker for most the season as he has not hauled in more than two receptions in a single game. Kaepernick is not on the same page as McDonald like he was with Delanie Walker last season.

This was a strong game for Ahmad Brooks, Dan Skuta and Glenn Dorsey on defense. The Panthers were mostly operating out of the base offense, leading to more snaps for Dorsey at nose tackle. Skuta http://www.officialfalconsnflauthentic.com/authentic-devonta-freeman-jersey.html played well in coverage while Brooks was the leading pass rusher. San Francisco did well at stopping the run and there wasn't any production from the TE position.

Demarcus Dobbs was decent at filling in for an injured Ray McDonald. He split time with Tony Jerod Eddie, but I felt Dobbs contained his side of the field well as a run stopper.

Having Kassim Osgood as one of the seven inactive players could have hurt the 49ers on special teams. Ted Ginn had three punt returns that went for at least 19 yards or more and the last one put the Panthers in 49ers territory which led to the game winning field goal by Graham Gano. A player that could have been inactive in his place was WR Jon Baldwin, who only played three snaps on Sunday.

The punt return game improved with LaMichael James, but Anthony Dixon on kickoffs was a disaster in his one return. He made a poor decision to return a kickoff that was deep inside the end zone which put www.officialfalconsnflauthentic.com/authentic-devonta-freeman-jersey.html the 49ers on their own 12 yard line. This set the tone in field position as the 49ers could not move the ball and the Panthers had them pinned inside the 20 yard line twice. Like Ginn, former 49ers S Colin Jones came back to haunt his old team by downing a punt at the one yard line.

Australia had improved. Despite a batting average of 37, David Warner was to be feared. Even though he finished his last Ashes series as a puddle of doubt, Mitchell Johnson would save the day.

In the few months between the series Australia had somehow magically improved their game. Alastair Cook's defensive captaincy wouldn't work in the Australian sun. They had found an in form player in George Bailey. Even Shane Watson's body had switched from batsman to allrounder mode.

Australia had not improved. They just had not had a chance to fail for three months.

An empire takes years to build, have patience. Let the English supporters have their joy for they suffered alot in the past when their team was the joke of world cricket.
